Top Fives Only?07/01/2008
With a long week of racing DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports hit 3 races on two different tracks. Tuesday night the best of the ASCoT came into town at I-90 speedway, then Saturday at our local racing at I-90 also then Sunday we tried to tackle Husets. Tuesday night with a bad draw saw us starting 5th with some of the best in the business which included Gary Lee Maier, Wayne Johnson, Sam Hafertepe Jr. We ended up with a respectable 4th place finish, unfortantully we would end up sitting 17th in final points. That putting us 1st for the first B main, with a strong start we messed up in one corner and got passed by a few cars. “It was a fast and tough last chance race.” Ending up 4th in the B would make our night end early. However we were able to take a champions provisional and be able to start 24th in the a main. After the first 5 laps we had passed 6 cars however a red flag came and everybody was able to make changes and we would be hard charger finishing 17th. Saturday was once again at Hartford, in which we would walk away with yet another heat race win by over 6 seconds. Starting 13th in the feature we would finish a nice 5th place. “One of these weekends the breaks are going to come and we are going to win!” Stated an excited Donovan. Sunday we would try Husets. Starting 5th in the heat race is where we would finish and that was one spot short of starting on the pole. We hit the set up but everyone did and finished in 8th. The weekend of the 4th will see DPR at Rock Rapids Speedway for the $1000 to win “Bounty Win” and Saturday again at I-90 Speedway. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems, PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Trondson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales, Simpson Race Products and Driver Websites. Without any of these we would not be able to race

Another Weekend In the Books06/25/2008
With a total of 3 races in a 4 day period Donovan Peterson racing and Willey Wilson Motorsports ventured to 2 different tracks, which included I-90 Speedway, Husets Speedway, and then back to I-90 Speedway. “It was a fun week of racing with a lot of different cars.” Stated Donovan Peterson. Saturday saw DPR at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD for our weekly racing show. After another heat race win we would start 11th in the A. With a slow start we managed to finish the race in 5th, however after two cars that finished the race ahead of us got DQ’ed we were credited with 3rd place. “ Its always bummer when someone has to get DQ’ed but rules are rules.” Stated Donovan. With that 3rd place, we are now only 7 points out of the lead with hopes of taking over the points lead this weekend. Sunday we ventured over to Husets Speedway in Brandon, SD. It was a fun night of racing, with not racing there weekly we had to to start last in our heat race, in which we would finish 5th. We started the feature in 13th and would finish in 10th. Now since we have raced there twice, we have established our point average and will give Husets a try and our first win of the season this Sunday. Tuesday night we were back racing at I-90 Speedway, with the ASCS National Tour. With a strong run of 4th in our heat race we would end up 17th in overall points. The only bad thing is that they would only take the top 16 in points. With racing the B-Main we made a strong run and seemed to have a transfer spot locked but another car touched wheels and resulting in us having to use a provisional. Started the A in last place we would finish 17th in a field with WOO Regulars and the Nations best 360 drivers. Hard Charger and a car in one piece was all we could ask for. Look for DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports again at I-90 Speedway and Husets Speedway this weekend. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems, PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Trondson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales, Simpson Race Products and Driver Websites. Big Weekend06/16/2008
It was another successful weekend for Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR, with Friday night racing at Murray County Speedway in Slayton, Minnesota with the HRA Non Wing Sprints and Saturday night racing at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. Friday night saw the DPR and Willey Wilson sprint car at Slayton racing with the non wing cars. After starting in the back of a loaded heat race we managed to get 5th in a very tight heat race battle. In the feature we would line up 7th and after some yellows we worked our way up to 3rd and then ran out of laps. “It was a fun track and the last time I raced here was with my mod, I was glad to see sprint cars there,” stated Donovan Saturday Night once again saw the team at I-90 Speedway, after a strong 2nd place run in the heat race we would start 10th on a very dry track. “ It was one of the dryest tracks I have raced on, luckily we were able to get past some cars at the start,” said Donovan. As the race finished we crossed the checkers in 4th. This next week you will see DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo, ND Thursday Night, Friday will either be at Grand Forks or Rock Rapids and Saturday will once again be at I-90 Speedway. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems, PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Trondson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales, Simpson Race Products and Driver Websites. Right Around The Corner06/09/2008
With The Turkey Town Showdown down rained out, it gave DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports only one night of racing. “I felt pretty confident going into Saturday night, we started 8th and got 3rd last weekend so I knew we could move forward.” Stated a confident Peterson. Starting 6th in the heat raced Donovan used the high line and cruised to comfortable heat race win. That then put the Willey Wilson Motorsports Schnee Chassis, Thronson Motors #3 9th in the Feature event. With some cautions that fell our way we brought home a 4th place win. “ I can feel a win around the corner, everybody Z, Alex, Lum, Tim, and Tom have put a lot of hard work into everything this year and I can feel that one of these weekends I will be able to put that car into Victory Lane.” Said and excited Donovan. Hopefully the weather will hold out and DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports will be able to go over to the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, MN for the HRA Non – Wing Sprints and I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD this weekend. If the races rain out on Friday night in Slayton. DPR will toss around the idea of racing at Husets on Sunday.

Turkey Town Here We Come.06/03/2008
It was a weekend of Highs and Lows for the Willey Wilson Motorsports and Donovan Peterson racing teams. Friday night was the first ever show for the Heartland Racing Association in Rock Rapids, IA. “It was a good night for us, we won our heat and the trophy dash; however in the feature we got passed and were trying to pass again for the lead and were hit by another car and bent our front end,” stated Donovan. A 6th place in the feature wasn’t what we hoped for but DPR was happy that we could roll the car on the trailer. Saturday DPR raced again at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. “The night went well for Willey Wilson Motorsports #3, we won our heat race and started 8th in the Feature event and worked our way through the field and brought home a 3rd place,” Donovan said. This weekend DPR and Willey Wilson Motorsports will be racing Friday at Worthington, MN for the Turkey Town Showdown with the IMCA and JSTS series. “It will be a fun show, Sprint Cars use to race there weekly and it looks like a really fun track, hopefully we can put on a good show and we will be racing double duty,” stated an excited Donovan. Saturday night we will be at I-90 Speedway with hopes to better our 3rd place finish from last weekend. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems, PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Trondson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales, Simpson Race Products and Driver Websites. Lady Luck?05/28/2008
After a string of bad luck Donovan Peterson Racing and Willey Wilson Motorsports seem to have lady luck back on their side. With a weekend that had four scheduled races it was shortened to only two nights of racing. DPR ventured to Redwood Falls for the IMCA Jackpot Junction series race on Sunday and went to Husets Speedway for the Annual Memorial Day race. “Redwood did not turn out the way we had anticipated, we have ran strong there in the past and I know we can still run strong there; however the computer drew the #100 pill for us which put us at the back of our heat on a dry slick track and also in the back for the feature that night,” stated Donovan. The only highlight of night came in the feature when DPR started 18th and brought home a 13th place finish. Monday was the first appearance this year at Husets for DPR, “I love racing here, Z loves racing here and the track is a fun place to race,” said Donovan. “Hopefully we will start racing here some more during the season and try to knock off a win or two.” After starting last in the heat race DPR finished 3rd which put us 12th on the starting grid for the feature, which is the best position we could get without a point average. When the checkers flew we managed to pass a few cars and get 8th. The week ahead looks to be yet another busy weekend as we will be at Rock Rapids for the HRA opener, Hartford for the local 360 show, and possibly again at Husets on Sunday.

Hartford Slump05/19/2008
(May 19th, 2008) After last week’s power steering problems Donovan Peterson Racing could only hope for a better result for the races at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, South Dakota. After three weeks of rain outs Hartford started their season openers. With one of the biggest fields of Sprint Cars at Hartford Donovan started his heat race 3rd row inside. “We knew we would have a hand full in our heat race, but we knew the motor would be hitting hard as ever and “Z” would have the car dialed in.” stated Donovan. After finishing 2nd we were looking forward towards the feature. After some changes to tighten up the car we started 3rd row outside. “After about 5 laps I made my way up to third place and was feeling pretty good, the leaders were getting into traffic and I was starting to catch them, however I came up on a lap car and hit a dry part of the track and did a 360.” A disappointed Peterson said. After doing a complete 360 we were still in 5th place but the flagman was trigger happy and sent us to the back with about 8 laps to go. We managed to get 11th. Not what DPR or Willey Wilson Motorsports were hoping for. However we will be racing Friday night at Rock Rapids, IA for the HRA season opener, Saturday at Hartford, SD and Sunday at Redwood Falls, MN for the IMCA Jackpot Junction Race. Also a special thanks to Greg Gordon at Gigart.com to supply us with our T Shirts, they are simply amazing and we will be getting them very soon. Also look for Drivers Cars. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems, PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Thronson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales, Simpson Race Products and Driver Websites. Without any of these we would not be able to race.

Hard To Tame Jackson05/14/2008
After a weekend of rain, racing finally started for Donovan Peterson Motorsports. As the team went to race at the Jackson Speedway Spring Nationals. Racing in the IMCA class, Donovan stated, “I always love racing with the IMCA guys, everyone has to run the same gear at the tracks and it’s just a fun series to race with.” After started in the 3rd row inside in the heat race Donovan quickly made his charge on the leader Curt Lund. “ Curt is one of the toughest racers I have raced with, if it’s a modified or his Sprint Car Curt is always up front and fast.” We managed to get second but during the cool down laps a keeper in the valve spring broke and bent a push rod. Lucky with the help of fellow racers we got it fixed. Feature time rolled around and we were looking pretty good, starting 5th we thought we could only go forward from there. However lady luck had a different idea, “Our seal on our power steering pump went out and I lost power steering about 5 laps into the race. I just got up to second then the car had a really bad push and I had to fight it the rest of the night” stated Donovan. It was a huge let down for the team but we got 12th and that’s good. We have to thank Willey Wilson motorsports for letting him use his car for the IMCA race. “Tom has outstanding cars and motors and I am very thankful I get to race for a car owner like Tom.” Said Donovan. Plans this weekend are to race at Hartford unless they get rained out, then you may see the car at Husets or the Huron NOSA Show.

Ready To Rock05/08/2008
Well racing season finally came upon everyone in the Upper Midwest this last weekend. Even tho hartford was rained out, we went to Husets to watch, we planed on racing the season opener but did not get the car ready till about 4 sunday afternoon. Hopefully this weekend is going to go good. We will be racing only one class over at the Jackson Spring Nationals, last year we got 2nd in the IMCA class and hopefully this year we will be able to win it this year. We wanted to bring both cars over there but have not got our ASCS car done. Van Wyhes and Folkens are putting on an awesome show and we wish we could of been a part of it. Saturday we will head to Hartford to defend out title, always love racing there and hopefully this year we get some wins. Look for us to be at Husets a couple times this summer also. Take a look at the photo gallery as some old pictures have been added as well as my Dads old car. DPR would like to thank everyone that makes this happen, Willey Wilson Motorsports, MetalworX Environmental Systems, Primogreen, Countryview Motors, Key Auto Sales, Driver Websites, Hydron and Simpson Race Products.

Snow Out04/27/2008
As much as everyone was looking forward to racing this weekend, it just did not happen, with over 10.5 inches in Brookings and around the same north of Missouri everything was Snowed Out. The Kasson IMCA Race will not be rescheduled which kind of sucks because we would like to race for points with the Jackpot Tour we know we will miss the few Saturday shows they will have, so we want to race with them as much as we can. Look for us to be ready for next weekend to defend our Championship and have another great year. Willey Wilson Motorsports and DPR would like to thank MetalworX Environmental Systems,PrimoGreen, West Sioux Exhaust and Brake, Thronson Motors, Ziebarth Trucking, Key Auto Sales and Driver Websites. Without any of these we would not be able to race.
